Jalang’o: “Sifuna has failed Nairobians; I will take that Senate seat and perform”

Politics

Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor popularly known as Jalang’o has launched a scathing attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of abandoning his oversight role.

Speaking in an interview with TV47’s Ukumbi Wa Siasa show on Tuesday, February 25, MP Jalang’o — who has delcared that he will vie for the Nairobi senatorial seat in 2027 — said Sifuna had done Nairobians a disservice by not grasping his constitutional mandates as a senator.

Ndiyo kwa sababu tunasema wana Nairobi wanahitaji uwakilishaji wa haki na mtu mwenye yuko pale (present),” Jalang’o said, adding that the “lack of oversight” in Nairobi County is part of the reasons why he has decided to shift his focus to the 2027 senatorial race.

The comedian-cum-politician defended his track record in Lang’ata, blowing his own trumpet that his constituents appreciate the work and projects that he has been able to plan and implement during his tenure as an MP.

He was, however, quick to point out that no leader will be able to solve all the problems and issues affecting his constituents, but they can only better the situation.

Project? Whose project?

Jalang’o strongly refuted cspeculations that are becoming rife on social media, branding him as a project of the government that is hell-bent in unseating Sifuna in Nairobi.
