Kenya’s Youth Wrestling Cadet Team has made a proud return from the 2025 African Wrestling Championships held in Casablanca, Morocco.
As part of their preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the young wrestlers showcased determination and skill, securing three bronze medals in the women’s category.
The medalists include Shalyng Joy, Ingwesi Janet, and Joy Lichuma, each earning hard-fought bronze through intense competition against some of Africa’s best young wrestlers.
Their success highlights the growing strength of Kenya’s wrestling program and the potential of these athletes on the continental stage.
The Championships served as a critical stepping stone for Kenya’s cadet wrestlers, providing valuable international experience ahead of the Youth Olympic Games scheduled for later this year in Chile.
The exposure and competitive environment are expected to contribute significantly to the athletes’ development.
Kenya’s wrestling federation and supporters have expressed immense pride in the team’s achievements, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in youth sports to nurture future champions.
This performance complements Kenya’s broader sporting ambitions, as the country continues to build a strong presence across multiple disciplines on the African and global stages.
