Khaligraph Jones gives ‘Bag Ni Ya Nini?’ hitmaker Kapitani his flowers as Kenya’s No. 1 artist

Veteran Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has delivered a powerful message to fast-rising artiste Kapitani, urging the young star to never forget the roots that shaped his journey even as his music career continues to explode.

The two crossed paths outside an entertainment joint over the weekend, where what began as a brief encounter turned into a striking moment of mentorship between one of Kenya’s most established hip-hop voices and one of the industry’s emerging sensations.

Khaligraph was quick to recognise Kapitani’s growing influence, praising the young artiste for the momentum he has built.

“We are very happy yaani with everything, man,” Khaligraph told him, before adding, “You are the biggest now, bana.”

The OG went further, pointing to the kind of influence Kapitani now commands among fans.

“Kapitani ndio inakula saa hii,” he said, highlighting how even the smallest gesture from the rising star can trigger an instant reaction from the crowd.

“Saa hii hata ukikoa hapa hivi, kila mtu anainua mkono hivi anasema ndio hiyo yenyewe,” Khaligraph remarked.

But beyond the fame, numbers and growing influence, Khaligraph had one message he wanted Kapitani to remember: never forget Kayole.

The veteran rapper urged the young artiste to carry the name of his Eastlands roots wherever his music takes him.

“Usikose kutaja Kayole, hata nini ikifanyika usikose kutaja Kayole,” Khaligraph insisted.

For Khaligraph, this is more than just advice-it is a philosophy that has followed him throughout his own career. The rapper has consistently celebrated Kayole in his music, including his 2018 track Kasayole featuring Timmy Tdat.

“Mimi naimba Kayole. Mimi nimekuwa nikiimba Kayole miaka zangu zote,” he said, reflecting on his journey.

Even as his career grew, Khaligraph said he never abandoned the place that helped shape his identity.

“Hata watu wa Kayole wengine wanasema niliwaachanga, lakini mimi naimbanga Kayole kila mahali naenda.”

The advice comes at a defining moment for Kapitani, whose star has been rising rapidly. His CONTROL music video has surpassed 3.5 million YouTube views, while Safe crossed the one-million-view mark in just two weeks.

And as Kapitani’s fame continues to soar, Khaligraph’s message is clear: success may take you far, but never let it make you forget where you came from.
