In compliance with World Rugby’s return-to-play protocols, the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced the postponement of the Women’s Rugby Super Series match between the Jaguars and Eagles to next week.
“The scheduled women’s match between the Jaguars and Eagles will not take place. We will retain their Match Day 4 fixture. We appreciate our fans’ understanding and look forward to their continued support!” stated the Kenya Rugby Union in their press release.
The return-to-play protocol mandates that athletes undergo a two-week physical rest after participating in physically demanding training or fixtures to monitor their well-being, especially after suspected concussions.
Many players on the rosters of both the Eagles and Jaguars also represent the Kenya National Women’s 15s Rugby team and the 7s Rugby team.
The Lionesses 15s recently competed in the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup, where they failed to qualify for the 2025 Rugby World Cup after suffering defeats to Madagascar (29-22) and South Africa (63-5). They secured their sole victory with a 39-17 score against Cameroon.
The 7s team, on the other hand, will be unavailable as they have traveled abroad to participate in the final round of the Challenger Series scheduled for May 18–19 in Poland.
