Lebanese ‘Narcoterrorism’ suspect deported from Kenya to the US

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) today successfully extradited Antoine Kassis, a Lebanese national wanted for narcoterrorism and money laundering. Kassis, a fugitive, was handed over to US security agents following a court order.

Kassis was arrested earlier this year by DCI detectives acting on a Red Notice from NCB Washington, USA, and an arrest warrant from the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He was apprehended at a hotel in Kiambu County after arriving in Kenya via Qatar Airways. Following his arrest, Kassis was taken to Gigiri Police Station as the extradition process commenced.

The extradition process concluded today, with Kassis being handed over to DEA Special Agents and a Senior Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Kenya (ODPP). This action was in accordance with a Milimani Magistrate’s Court order (case number MCCR Misc/E1025/2025 dated April 16, 2025) and an ODPP warrant of surrender dated May 2, 2025.

The DCI has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with both local and international law enforcement agencies. This ongoing cooperation aims to deter transnational criminals, including manufacturers, sellers, and consumers of illicit drugs, money launderers, terrorists, and other lawbreakers, from operating within Kenya.
