LSK demands justice following brutal murder of Advocate Tom Ouya

The Law Society of Kenya has condemned the killing of advocate Tom Ouya Imbukwa, describing his death as a devastating loss to the legal fraternity and calling for swift justice against those responsible.

The LSK President, Charles Kanjama, said the lawyer was assaulted, tortured, and murdered by unknown persons, with the circumstances surrounding his death sending shockwaves through the legal community.

“Our colleague was assaulted, tortured, and murdered by unknown persons. The circumstances surrounding Tom’s death demand our unequivocal condemnation and immediate action,” Kanjama said.

The LSK called on the National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to conduct thorough, credible, and transparent investigations into the matter.

He warned that no one will be spared, including state actors if found to be involved.

“If state actors were involved in this torture and murder, there must be no sanctuary for them. We will not rest until those responsible are held accountable. Justice for Tom Ouya Imbukwa is not negotiable,” Kanjama stated.

The LSK also appealed to members of the public with any information about the incident to come forward and share it with the DCI or the LSK directly, assuring them that their anonymity and safety would be protected.

“We appeal to any member of the public with information regarding this incident to share it urgently with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) or directly with the Law Society of Kenya. Your anonymity and safety will be protected,” Kanjama said.

Kanjama further assured Tom’s family that the LSK would stand by them throughout the investigation and any legal proceedings that follow.

“We will not stand by as our members are targeted, tortured and killed. The hand of the law is indeed long, and we shall ensure it reaches those responsible for this atrocity,” he added.

Colleagues who knew Tom described him as a dedicated and hardworking lawyer.

Advocate Phannie Kwegah said she was deeply saddened by the sudden and cruel nature of his death, expressing hope that those behind it will face justice.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear as investigations continue.
