Manchester United return to Premier League action on Monday evening with a trip to Merseyside to face Everton FC.
After a weekend break due to FA Cup fixtures, United shift attention back to the league as they continue their push for Champions League qualification.
Interim boss Michael Carrick has overseen four wins from his first five matches in charge. However, his side were held to a draw away at West Ham United in their most recent outing.
Despite that setback, United remain fourth in the table and firmly in control of their top-four destiny.
Monday’s encounter will see the Red Devils take on former manager David Moyes, now in charge of Everton.
Injury updates
United will travel without several key players.
Patrick Dorgu remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in January. The Denmark international is expected to be out for several weeks, with Carrick previously indicating the issue is more serious than initially thought.
“Mason is getting closer; we have to be patient with him. We don’t want to rush anything,” Carrick said.
Mason Mount has missed the last three matches after picking up an injury in training earlier this month. Carrick has already ruled him out of the Everton fixture, though he is nearing a return.
Meanwhile, Matthijs de Ligt continues his recovery from a back injury that has kept him out since November. While progress has been made, Carrick confirmed the defender is still unavailable.
“De Ligt is working towards it, he is a little bit behind Mason,” the United boss noted.
United will be hoping to secure a crucial three points at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as the race for Champions League qualification intensifies.
