Malkia Strikers to fine-tune World Championship preparations in Vietnam

The Kenya women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, will use a one-week international tournament in Vietnam as part of their build-up ahead of the FIVB World Championship, scheduled for August 22 to September 7 in Thailand.

The World Championship matches will be hosted across four Thai cities: Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. Malkia Strikers have been drawn in Pool “G” alongside Germany, Poland, and Vietnam.

Other African representatives, Cameroon, will compete in Pool “H” with Ukraine, Serbia, and Japan, while Egypt will feature in Pool “A” alongside Thailand, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Kenya Volleyball Federation President Charles Nyaberi said the Malkia Strikers’ technical bench, led by Geoffrey Omondi, is in the advanced stages of selecting the provisional squad that will represent the country.

“We’re in the process of selecting the Malkia Strikers squad that will do duty for Kenya at the upcoming World Championships in Thailand.

Before that, the team will participate in a one-week international tournament in Vietnam, which will serve as the final phase of preparation. The technical team is at a very advanced stage of finalising the squad, having done their scouting, and in the next few days, they will announce the provisional squad,” Nyaberi said.
