A 42-year-old man in Kabartonjo, Baringo County, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of defiling his eight-year-old daughter.
While delivering his ruling at the Kabarnet Law Courts on Tuesday, June 3, Senior Principal Magistrate P. Koskey noted that the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court heard that the accused, who resides in Bepyemit Village, defiled his biological daughter on multiple occasions in December 2024.
The prosecution argued that the accused, the child’s biological father, visited the victim’s mother under the pretext of taking the child out to buy slippers.
He then spent the night with the minor at his rented residence in Kabartonjo, where the crime was committed.
Prosecution presented six witnesses, including the minor, and relied on critical medical and forensic evidence that corroborated the allegations and clearly established the offence of incest.
In delivering the sentence, Magistrate Koskey emphasized the gravity of the crime, referencing both the pre-sentence report and the victim impact statement.
He highlighted the severe psychological harm inflicted on the child and stressed the importance of imposing a strong deterrent to prevent similar offences.
