Residents of Masimba Ward in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, Kisii County, have demanded the reinstatement of their MCA, Bouse Mairura, following his six-month suspension from the Kisii County Assembly.
Led by Evans Gesanda Ombati, the residents termed the suspension politically motivated witch-hunt. Ombati said the ward is not well represented since the MCA was suspended.
“Mairura has been a victim of suspension for being vocal in the opposition,” Gesanda said.
He claimed the MCA has received threats due to his firm stand, which has undermined his ability to discharge his duties.
Ben Oeri called for Mairura’s immediate reinstatement within 48 hours.
He vowed to move to court over denial of representation if the petition is not honored.
“We will remain peaceful and law-abiding, but our leader must be respected,” Oeri said.
The Kisii County Assembly is yet to respond to the residents’ demands.
