A vibrant and heartfelt celebration marked Nurses Week yesterday at Mbagathi Hospital, where the county’s healthcare leaders gathered to honor the dedication and resilience of nurses serving Nairobi residents.

The event, proudly sponsored by Mbagathi Hospital, brought together top county officials, hospital CEOs, and nursing professionals from across Nairobi. In a powerful address, Mbagathi Hospital CEO Dr. Alex Irungu conveyed a special message of appreciation and reflection from Nairobi Governor H.E. Johnson Sakaja and the CECM for Health, Ms. Susan Silantoi.

“Our nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system,” said Dr. Irungu. “Governor Sakaja and Madam Silantoi salute your unwavering dedication, tireless compassion, and the selfless service you provide to the people of Nairobi every single day. We are proud of you, and today, we celebrate you.”

The ceremony included a moving moment where nurses renewed their professional pledge, reaffirming their commitment to serve humanity and help “Make Nairobi Work.”

“It is inspiring to see our nurses renew their covenant with such passion,” Dr. Irungu added. “This pledge is not just symbolic it is a daily act of courage and compassion that saves lives and transforms communities.”

Also in attendance were County Chief Nurse Madam Soi, CEO of Pumwani Hospital Christine Kiteshuo, CEO of Mutuini Hospital Mr. Fred Obwanda, Dr. Oda, Head of Primary Healthcare, and Madam Felister Musyoka, alongside a proud delegation of Nairobi’s nursing staff.
