Ministry admits it hasn’t paid KCSE/KCPE invigilators, examiners

The Ministry of Education has confirmed delays in disbursing allowances to thousands of contracted professionals who administered and marked the 2025 national examinations and assessments.

In a press statement Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, says the Ministry attributed the hold-up to ongoing budgetary constraints and cash flow challenges affecting the release of funds. Those affected include supervisors, invigilators, security personnel, examiners, and other support staff who played essential roles in ensuring the integrity, credibility, and timely delivery of the national exams (including KCSE, KCPE/KPSEA equivalents, and related assessments).

The Ministry has emphasized that these professionals remain central to the successful execution of Kenya’s examination calendar. “The delays in disbursement of allowances have arisen from budgetary and cash flow constraints currently affecting the release of funds,” the statement read in part.

CS Ogamba assured all affected professionals that payment remains a priority. he promised that the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Treasury, is actively working to resolve the matter and expedite the release of the requisite funds within the shortest time possible.

The announcement comes amid growing frustration among teachers and exam personnel, who have voiced concerns on social media and through unions following weeks of uncertainty.
