A Mount Kenya University (MKU) student has bagged KSh100,000 in prize money after winning a competition to name the institution’s new auditorium.
Hamia Adhiambo Ouma, a Diploma in Business Management student at MKU Nakuru Campus, won the competition after coining the best name for the new facility, with his entry “Infinite Quest Auditorium” highlighting creativity meeting functionality.

MKU Founder Prof. Simon Gicharu, while awarding the prize, praised Ouma’s name for its creativity and alignment with MKU’s motto “Unlocking Infinite Possibilities.” Prof. Gicharu said the name reflects the university’s mission to empower learners through education, research, and innovation.
Adhiambo, grateful for the recognition, plans to invest her prize in farming activities in Nyando, Kisumu County, to support her family and education.

The Infinite Quest Auditorium will debut on 26th September 2025 during the MKU Interdisciplinary Conference themed “Emerging Technologies and Sustainable Practices.”
According to Dr. Jacqueline Omuya, MKU Nakuru Campus Director, the milestone highlights the university’s commitment to modern infrastructure, student talent, and community engagement.
