Security forces have successfully launched an operation in Laikipia County that resulted in the recovery of stolen cattle.
A multi-agency team was dispatched to the Almororo area of Mukogodo with the mandate of flushing out suspected bandits and reclaiming livestock that had been taken from residents.
The operation bore fruit when officers located and recovered 115 head of cattle in the Seketoi Valley.
The mission, however, took a dangerous turn as the team was making its way back with the recovered animals.
Suspected bandits launched an ambush, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
Despite the sudden attack, the security team refused to retreat and successfully overpowered the assailants, ensuring the livestock remained in their custody.
The recovered cattle are currently being escorted to safety as efforts are made to return them to their rightful owners.
The National Police Service has reaffirmed its resolve to continue dismantling criminal networks and upholding the safety and security of all Kenyans.
