Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura addressed key national concerns today, offering critical clarifications and strong words on a range of issues, from budget allocations to rising food prices and presidential security.
Dr. Mwaura dispelled speculation surrounding recent budget cuts affecting high-profile figures including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and former Vice Presidents Kalonzo Musyoka and Moody Awori.
“Let me be clear—these budgetary adjustments are not politically motivated,” he said. “They are part of a broader plan to ensure fiscal discipline and prudent use of public resources.”
Pensioners face May 10 deadline
The Government Spokesman urged all pensioners and their dependents receiving monthly payments from the National Treasury’s Pensions Department to validate their details before the May 10, 2025, deadline.
“We are calling on all pensioners to comply with the validation exercise,” Mwaura said. “This is about protecting the integrity of the system and ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries are served.”
Unga prices under control
Amid growing concern over the soaring cost of maize flour, Mwaura reassured Kenyans that the government is taking steps to cushion citizens.
“The government is aware of the pressures on household budgets,” he said. “We’ve already put in place strategic interventions to stabilize unga prices and ensure food remains accessible to all Kenyans.”
Shoe incident in Migori condemned
In a firm statement, Dr. Mwaura denounced the recent incident in Migori County, where a shoe was hurled at President William Ruto.
“That act was not just disrespectful—it was a shameful affront to the institution of the presidency,” he stated. “We must learn to engage each other constructively, even in dissent.”
As the nation grapples with economic and political tensions, Mwaura’s address served as both a call for calm and a reinforcement of the government’s stance on key issues.
