Samson Talam, the Officer Commanding (OCS) Nairobi’s Central Police Station, has been arrested even as investigations into the murder of teacher cum blogger Albert Ojwang’ continues.
Reports indicate that investigators handling the case trailed Talam to Eldoret, after hours of manhunt. The DCI says that Talam had switched off his mobile phone on Thursday, June 12.
Following his arrest on Friday, June 13, Talam was handed over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for further processing.
Talam is the third suspect to be arrested in connection with the death of Ojwang’.
CCTV tampering
A 23-year-old technician linked to the tampering of crucial footage related to the murder of Ojwang was arrested on Friday, June 13 in Nairobi’s Saika area.
According to police, the technician reportedly received a payment of KSh3,000, to erase surveillance footage capturing the moments before and after Ojwang’ was booked in at the station.
The technician is not new at Central Police Station. Reports indicate that in 2024, he was contracted to install the CCTV system at the station, and had done maintenance works severally.

The arrest comes after the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) told the Senate Plenary on Wednesday, June 11 that their investigations had hit a snag after the discovery that the CCTV systems at the Central Police Station had been tampered with.
This development follows the apprehension of Police Constable James Mukhwana of Central Police Station on Thursday, June 12. Mukhwana was taken into custody by officers from the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the National Police Service, in collaboration with IPOA. He is expected to be charged with murder.
