A police officer and his co-accused were on Thursday arraigned in a Nakuru court over alleged robbery with violence and abduction.
Naaman Okunga, a police officer, appeared before Nakuru Senior Principal Magistrate Vincent Adet alongside Julius Waweru.
The two denied several charges including robbery with violence and abduction.
The two are accused of robbing Humphrey Idanda Sh90,000 from his M-Pesa account on December 17, 2025 at the Bismack area of Teachers Estate in Nakuru East Sub-county.
The prosecution said they were armed with an offensive weapon, a pair of handcuffs, during the incident. The court heard that the suspects allegedly abducted Idanda with the intention of causing harm.
In a separate incident, the pair is accused of robbing Charles Ngatia Sh5,100 from his M-Pesa account on November 20, 2025 at the Milimani area within Nakuru East Sub-county.
Waweru is also facing an additional charge of personation. Prosecutors told the court that he allegedly pretended to be a police officer and falsely arrested Idanda on claims that he was involved in drug peddling.
Waweru also posed as a police officer and arresting Ngatia on allegations of loitering during the November 20 incident in Milimani.
The two were released on Sh500,00 bond with a surety of similar amount on Thursday Afternoon
