Kiharu MP and People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has called for the unity of opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying a united opposition is necessary to challenge President William Ruto at the ballot.

Speaking during a political tour of Nambale Constituency in Busia County, Nyoro said opposition leaders, including Linda Mwananchi leader Edwin Sifuna, should work together and put aside political differences in the interest of Kenyans.

Nyoro also questioned the recent changes to police uniforms, calling for greater transparency over the procurement process and the cost involved. He demanded that the government explain the rationale behind replacing the uniforms and provide details on how public funds were spent.

The PPK leader warned government officials against misusing taxpayers’ money, insisting that leaders should serve Kenyans rather than use public office for personal gain.

Nyoro further condemned the political violence witnessed in parts of the country, including Homa Bay, Siaya and Migori, saying Kenyans have rejected violence and intimidation.

He called on the security leadership and relevant authorities to ensure those responsible for violence are held accountable, regardless of their political affiliation.

At the same time the Kiharu MP urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action against individuals accused of making statements or engaging in activities that could divide Kenyans along ethnic lines.

He said Kenya must remain united and that political competition should never become a reason for violence or ethnic division.

“We want to remain united as a country and as one people. There should be no barrier of ethnicity. We are all Kenyans, and together we must move our country forward,” Nyoro said.
