Two suspected drug traffickers have been arrested after they were nabbed with nine sacks of canabis sativa (bhang) in Narok County,
The two were arrested by a team of Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) who were acting on intelligence.
The multi-agency team, the DCI says, intercepted a Nissan X-Trail vehicle (registration no. KDP 353U), which was found packed to the brim with the illicit cargo.
The driver, James Nyaikondo, along with his accomplice, Jackson Nyaikondo, were swiftly arrested at the scene.
“A preliminary inspection of the vehicle revealed nine (9) sacks of cannabis sativa,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reports. “The suspects are currently in custody as authorities process their case in preparation for arraignment.”
Meanwhile, the seized vehicle and narcotic substances are being held as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.
Over 300kg of bhang in Kericho

In Kericho County, police — acting on a tip-off — intercepted a motorvehicle and recovered a significant amoung ot bhang.
The vehicle was first flagged down at Londiani Junction, but the driver defied orders to stop, prompting a pursuit along the Kericho–Molo–Nakuru Highway.
The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle at Mau Summit and escaped.
“Upon conducting a thorough search of the abandoned vehicle, officers recovered 69 bales of cannabis sativa, weighing a total of 310.5 kilograms,” police say.
The police add: “Efforts are actively underway to trace and apprehend the driver. This operation not only disrupted a major drug-trafficking attempt but also reaffirms the resolve of the National Police Service to pursue criminals and dismantle the wider network involved in trafficking narcotics within the region.”
