Obama blasts Siaya governor for not picking up his calls

Malik Obama, the step-brother to former US President Barack Obama has blasted Siaya Governor James Orengo for ignoring his calls for a record two years.

In a post on his Twitter handle on Friday, Malik claimed that he last spoke to Orengo in May 2021 at his mother’s funeral, Keziah Obama.

According to the 65-year-old, despite attending the burial of his mother, the first-term Governor does not pick up his calls. He hasn’t picked any, since.

“Jim. You haven’t picked up my phone calls since you attended my mother’s burial. You came and left,” Malika said.

Malik called on the county boss to upgrade Kogelo Market, a small market centre in Siaya that received international recognition owing to Barack Obama’s political success in the United States.

In his message to Orengo, Malik says the area has been neglected and looks totally dilapidated despite being the home of his and Barack’s late father.

“It’s a shame as it is a place of great significance locally and internationally. I strongly urge and request you to do the necessary urgently,” Malik added.

In the March 2013 General Elections, Malik contested for the Siaya County gubernatorial seat using the slogan “Obama here, Obama there”.

His campaign slogan alluded to his step-brother, Barack, then US President. Malik received 2,792 votes, trailing the winner by about 140,000 votes.

Surprisingly, during the 2016 US Presidential Election, he supported Donald Trump of the Republican Party. He did the same in the 2020 polls, just like he has ahead of the 2024 polls.

He also shared a fake birth certificate of Barack in 2020, fuelling conspiracy theories about his citizenship.

The faux Kenyan certificate which he brandished four years after Barack left the White House, alleged that his younger step-brother was born in Kenya hence his ineligibility to be President of the United States.
