Media personality Magana Steve Thompson, popularly known as Oga Obinna, has graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media and Communication from Mount Kenya University.
Speaking to TV47, Obinna reflected on his academic journey, stating how challenging yet interesting it was ever since starting in the year 2023.
“It has been a journey, because I was a distance learner. I started with physical classes but it became quite challenging, so I switched to online. It has been an interesting journey. I started in 2023 and up until now I can’t believe I have graduated with first class honours in Mass Media and Communication, majoring in PR,” Oga Obinna said.
The media personality explained his motivation for pursuing higher education despite being a public figure.
“I did it so that I can add to my knowledge in the digital space because as long as someone wants to get into the digital space, education is equally important,” Obinna stated.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Obinna celebrated his achievement.
“From the village, to the city, to the streets, to the hustle, the struggle and back to school. Been an interesting ride. Today I graduate with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media and Communication (PR option) from MKU,” Obinna wrote on his Instagram page.
He expressed gratitude to God, himself, his family, lecturers, and schoolmates, adding: “So it has been possible all along! My first degree. Many more to come, INSHALLAH.”
The graduation marks a significant milestone for the content creator, who successfully balanced his thriving media career with academic pursuits through distance learning.
