Ugandan TikToker Gladys Gire, popularly known as Gire’s World, has sent the internet into a frenzy after posting a video capturing her culture shock during a visit to Nairobi, and Kenyans are absolutely loving it.
The content creator, accustomed to the boda-boda-dominated streets back home (Uganda), was visibly stunned by what she encountered on Kenyan roads.
“In Uganda we have traffic of bodas. Apparently in Kenya right now what I’m seeing is traffic of amazing freaking cars,” she exclaimed in the now-viral clip.
The surprises did not stop at the traffic as Gire revealed that her biker had warned her to stay alert on the streets of Nairobi, yet even that cautionary note could not dim her excitement.
“My driver is telling me they will snatch my phone on the streets of Nairobi. Guys, Kenyans have nice freaking cars. Oh, my goodness,” she said.
In a moment that has since been widely shared and quoted, she turned directly to her Kenyan audience with a playful plea that Kenyans should give them (Ugandans) money.
“You guys have money. Give us some, we need it! We need it!” Gire expressed.
The video has since sparked a wave of reactions across social media, with Kenyans amused and flattered in equal measure by her candid and unfiltered take on their city.
Comments flooded with many Kenyans wondering the state Ugandans are in and some teasing her saying: “Na sasa akiona ocean.”
