Police in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, have initiated investigations after it emerged that fertilisers sold to farmers in the area might be fake.
Some of the local farmers allege that the said fertiliser has a mixture of sheep waste, gravel, and fine animal salt lick packaged in National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) bags.
Kipkogei Yegon, one of the affected farmers in Metipsoo area, says he bought 10 bags of the fertiliser at KSh25,000.
Koibatek DCIO Yusuf Nzioka says that investigations into the matter have begun in earnest, calling on all the farmers to return the fertilisers to NCPB offices.
We are investigating that matter.
Nzioka also advised the farmers not to use the fertiliser until they have concluded investigations.
