Shakahola prime suspect Payul Mackenzie has denied any involvement in a recent case of religious radicalisation in Binzaro Village, Chakama, in Kilifi County.
Through his lawyer Lawrence Obonyo, Mackenzie regretted being associated with the case where police rescued four individuals and launched investigations into the mysterious deaths of at least three others in the area.
The controversial pastor is crying foul, accusing the government of deliberately tainting his name in a bid to sway the court into finding him guilty of the charges he is currently facing.
For the last two years, Mackenzie has been in prison, facing 191 murder charges in relation to the Shakahola massacre of over 450 followers of his Good News International church.
In the recent case of religious extremism, there has been allegations that the suspects arrested are Mackenzie’s followers, and that he has been communicating with them through phone calls from the prison.
Makenzie is now calling for a thorough investigation into the incident in Binzaro, to ascertain that indeed he is not involved in any way.
