Two suspects arrested in connection with a phone-snatching syndicate that has been terrorising Madogo Township and its surrounding areas have been ordered detained for 15 days as detectives work to complete their investigations.
Ibrahim Ali and Osman Kulumiye appeared before the Garissa Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 20, 2026, which ordered that they be held at Garissa Police Station pending the conclusion of investigations.
The two were arrested following an intelligence-led operation on Mums Street in Madogo, during which police recovered 105 assorted mobile phones, two laptops, and phone accessories, all suspected to have been stolen.
Among the recovered items were two phones that had been snatched from victims on July 9, 2026, in the Bulla Sagare area of Garissa Township, and were positively identified by their owners.
Detectives are continuing investigations to establish the ownership of all the recovered devices and to identify and pursue any other suspects linked to the syndicate.
