Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya was on Saturday, October 4 successfully installed as an elder by the Wanga Council of Elders.
The ceremony, held in Matungu, Kakamega County, marks a significant milestone in Governor Natembeya’s quest to become the next spokesperson of the Mulembe (Luhya) Nation, a title currently held by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Before the ceremony, Natembeya paid a courtesy call to Nabongo Peter Mumia II at his residence in Shiembekho, Matungu Constituency.
Natembeya has been traversing Western region counties, seeking the endorsement of elders as he positions himself to be crowned the Luhya spokesperson.
Last week, he was installed as an elder by the Vihiga Council of Elders, although the members of the coundil are currently divided over the move.
