History and heritage converged in Bondo, Siaya County, on Saturday, October 18 morning as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi dispatched a powerful delegation of 100 revered elders from the Mulembe Nation to the Opoda home of the Late Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Led by Dr. Edward Ombeva, Chair of the Maragoli Cultural Society, the delegation arrived with six (6) majestic bulls and traditional food items, a heartfelt cultural offering symbolising unity, respect, and shared history.
They were warmly received by area MP Gideon Ochanda, as the gesture coincided with the return of Raila’s body to Kisumu and later to Bondo. The moment powerfully echoed the historic friendship between Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mzee Moses Mudamba Mudavadi (Raila’s and Musalia’s fathers respectively), a bond now carried forward to a new generation.
The elders hailed Raila as “a statesman beyond titles,” whose legacy will forever inspire Kenya’s democratic journey.
