Police recover 260 litres of illicit brew in Igembe North

Police in Igembe North have recovered 260 litres of chang’aa following a high-speed chase along the Laare-Mutuati Road.

Officers from Laare Police Station acted on a tip-off that a Toyota Probox was transporting illicit brew from Maili Tatu towards Laare Township.

The officers intercepted the vehicle and arrested one occupant.

A search of the vehicle uncovered 13 twenty-litre jerricans containing a total of 260 litres of chang’aa.

The vehicle was towed to Laare Police Station, while the suspect was placed in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

The National Police Service says it remains committed to combating the manufacture and distribution of illicit brews across the country.
