Like the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party euphoria that swept the Mt Kenya region in 2022, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya says many sitting legislators will fall casualty in 2027.
This time around, MP Gakuya says the MPs will be voted out by the electorate based on a different kind of euphoria that he believes will take the region by storm—not pledging allegiance to Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during TV47’s Morning Cafe show on Tuesday, June 3, Gakuya insisted that any politician who is not in Gachagua’s camp is committing a political suicide.
“I can tell you, when a euphoria comes you can’t stop it, and in Mt Kenya I am not seeing it changing,” Gakuya said, insisting, “For sure, this euphoria will exit many, so it is upon you to decide whether you stay put or you cross the border.”
According to the close ally of Gachagua, the DCP Party is gaining momentum like bush fire in the country, sounding an alarm to politicians who are not a part of this “revolution”.
“In his lineup, he has over 10 aspirants from each and every constituency in Mt Kenya. So, if you think that moving to that other direction you are safe, move and you will be replaced.”
Former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu agrees with Gakuya. Speaking on the same show, Mutambu foresaw a situation where Gachagua greatly influences the likeability/saleability of different candidates in the region.
“In our history, every cycle of elections, 70% or 65% of elected MPs don’t make it back. So, being elected does not mean you have all the right to control the leadership of the area, there are people who have more influence in society, even without being elected. Like Raila Odinga, he has so much influence and I don’t know when Raila was last elected to any position.”
