The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has mourned the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Describing him as a statesman, a Pan Africanist, a patriot, and true champion of democracy and justice, UDA Party says that in Raila, Kenya had lost one of her brightest lights, and Africa had lost one of its most steadfast voices for freedom, unity, and good governance.
The President William Ruto-led party lauded Raila for leading a life defined by courage, sacrifice, and an unyielding belief in a better Kenya.
“From his years of detention in the struggle for multi-party democracy, his central role in the making of the 2010 Constitution, to his tireless advocacy for social justice and inclusive development, Raila stood tall as a symbol of resilience and the enduring spirit of the Kenyan people,” the party said in a statement to newsrooms.
The party added: “The Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga will be remembered as a man who selflessly contributed to Kenya’s achievement of political pluralism and freedom, principal architect of constitutional reform and a unifying leader who played a significant role in guiding Kenya through national reconciliation on numerous occasions.”
