Prophet Dr. David Owuor, the leader of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness Church, has dismissed as fake reports that he was flown to Europe for a knee surgery.
In an exclusive interview with TV47, Prophet Owuor says the fake reports were peddled by detractors of the work of God he is doing with his ministry, which entails healing the sick.
According to Prophet Owuor, the “malicious rumours” came hot on the heel of a massive crusade he had in Nakuru, where he had performed miracles.
“That particular day, the healing service was very massive in Nakuru… cripples had walked, the blind had seen, and it was very very chaotic. You know the purpose [of the fake reports] was to try and put it in a negative way, and try to counteract the healing service — you cannot,” Prophet Owuor told TV47’s Samira Mohamed, with assurance in his eyes.
On the fateful day, Prophet Owuor says he was in Kenya, and had not even left the hotel room in Nakuru after the “powerful” crusade.
“Unfortunately for the person who did that, I was only told ‘hey, look there is a tweet here that you have been rushed for surgery in France! I don’t know whether I was rushed or I rushed myself for a knee surgery or hip surgery whatever it was!’, I was still in Merica Hotel in Nakuru.”
He further explained that on that particular day, he delayed coming out of his hotel room, which was unlike him. “That day for some reason I delayed to come out of the hotel. So, those things have to happen, they really have to take place because they are the identity markers of the fact that you have to pass through them in the ministry. If you walk in the footprints of Jesus, expect such temptations.”
Duale’s remarks
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale delved into the rumours during an interview with Citizen TV, where questioned why Owuor would fly out of the country for hospital treatment abroad, yet claim to heal the sick.
Duale, at the time, warned men of God against preaching fake miracles, linking the whole scenario to deadly cults like the Shakahola one witnessed in 2022.
