Prophet Dr. David Owuor, leader of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness Church, has recounted the intimate moments he had with captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

In an exclusive interview with TV47, Prophet Owuor reminisced many encounters with Maduro, and how humble the Venezuelan strongman was, especially on matters faith.

Referring to him as “My Son”, Prophet Owuor wished that all world leaders had the humility and were spiritual like Maduro.

“My son Maduro, every time the Lord said ‘visit Venezuela’, he would call me to State House and ask me, ‘What is the Lord saying?'” Prophet Owuor said, exclaiming, “Oh! That was very powerful, I wish all leaders in the world were like that.”

Prophet Owuor added: “And every time [Maduro] would say, ‘please don’t forget this land’. I can see the Lord has put his light on you, you are raising our crippled, blind eyes open. In fact, even this going to Venezuela, it is Maduro who told me ‘come every year’.”

United States (U.S) President Donald Trump, on January 3, 2026, sent special forces troops to raid and seize Maduro and his wife.

After the successful operation, Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores were flown to the U.S, and the couple has since been charged with weapon and drugs offences in New York.

The capture of Maduro came shortly after on December 2025, Prophet Owuor had conducted prayers and prophesied that no harm would befall the embattled leader despite mounting U.S. pressure.

At the time, Prophet Owuor framed his statements within a biblical context, citing passages warning of wars and national upheavals.

The contrast between Owuor’s message of protection and Maduro’s subsequent capture has drawn criticism from some observers and sceptics, who question the validity and timing of his prophecy claims.
