The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has condemned what it describes as the “brazen and cowardly” attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi at a restaurant in Kisumu City.
In a statement on Wednesday, April 8 evening, few hours after the brutal attack on the lawmaker at Java House located at the West End Mall, the DCI wished Osotsi a quick recovery.
“Our thoughts are also with his family members and the people of Vihiga County following this unfortunate incident,” the DCI said. “At this stage, the motive behind the attack has not been established.”
The investigative agency said that its detectives are actively pursuing crucial leads following a detailed forensic analysis of the available CCTV footage.
The agency called upon members of the public to remain calm, refrain from speculation, and allow investigations to proceed without interference.
“The DCI is fully committed to getting to the bottom of this matter and will ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. Members of the public will be kept informed as investigations progress.”
Osotsi was reportedly attacked by armed goons, sustaining injuries in the process. He has since been airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment.
Osotsi, according to Director of Communications at the Vihiga Senate Office, had visited Acacia area to get a haircut, he interacted with members of the public before proceeding to Java to meet a friend.
