Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has been arraigned at the Milimani Law in Nairobi, hours after her dramatic arrest at her home on Thursday evening.
The legislator was brought to court under tight security in a Subaru car. She was briefly taken to the Milimani Court cells before her arraignment.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is among the opposition politicians who are attending the court session in solidarity with MP Kihara.
The exact charges Kihara is facing remains unclear, although DCP Party Secretary Planning and Economic Affairs, Dr. Peter Mbae has shared what he says is Kihara’s charge sheet.
According to the charge sheet shared by Dr. Mbae, the MP is facing charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace, contrary to Section 94(1) of the Penal Code, CAP 63 Laws of Kenya.
The particulars of the charge is that MP Kihara, on July 8, 2025, uttered words — with intent to provoke breach of the peace — before a public gathering.
The exact statement that has put MP Kihara in trouble is; “I want to talk about Naivasha be-cause I know those goons were transported in NYS bus, in a place called Karagita they were dropped there, in town they were brought in trucks in Maimahiu so all these people nobody knew them, as I condole with the bereaved and also empathize with those properties who were destructed. I want to tell President Ruto this is not a war you can win unless you want to destroy this country, it is about the youth, it is about the young people who you went round promising heaven, and what you were doing now is digging deep, so that they go under, it will not happen, in Naivasha they killed one, three are in critical condition, and as my colleagues has said Police are not doing anything, they didn’t try to arrest the goons, we could see in the place goons walking with them, so it is not anything that is going to end we as Kenyans are prepared to prepare our country so that we cannot be drowned by one single person because you think you are so powerful, yet you have the pow er which we gave you, you cannot use the same power to destroy us and destroy the country”.
