The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has raised alarm over the spike in road fatalities in 2025.
The latest data from the Authority indicates a worsening road safety crisis on Kenyans roads, with more than 4,400 having lost their lives as of December 2025. This number represents a 3.4 percent increase in road fatalities compared to the year 2024.
Pedestrians continue to bear the greatest brunt with a total of 1,685 deaths recorded.
Four hundred and three (403) drivers lost their lives through road crashes this year, compared to the 370 who were killed last year, a 8.9 percent increase.
Motorcycle-related fatalities also recorded an increase, with 1,148 motorcyclists killed along with 432 pillion passengers.
Pedal cyclists were not spared either, with 67 of them losing their lives this year.
