Muranga Senator Joe Nyutu has said that president William Ruto invited himself to the battle with his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during an interview with TV 47 on April 9, 2025, Senator Nyutu stated that the battle between the two leaders is a result of the President supporting Gachagua’s impeachment from office.
“President Ruto is not very clever, because he invited himself to this battle with Gachagua. If it were me, I could not have allowed the media to draw me into war of words with Gachagua. You do not throw stones when you live in a glass house yourself,” said Senator Joe Nyutu
Nyutu added that Gachagua was playing mature politics by not disrupting the president’s tour of the Mount Kenya region.
At the same time, the Murang’a Senator urged the President to allow Gachagua to do his tours without disruptions unlike the chaos that was witnessed at PCEA church in Kasarani.
“Rigathi Gachagua wanted to play mature politics and not disrupt William Ruto’s Mt Kenya tour. That is why he did not respond to President Ruto immediately. He waited until Ruto concluded his tour,” Senator Joe Nyutu noted.
Nyutu also supported his allegations of the president being involved in Gachagua’s attack on Sunday. He questioned why the president did not condemn the awful act yet he consumes intelligence reports on a daily basis.
“President Ruto has not condemned the chaos that happened in the church, yet he is in the country. Police were absent during the chaos, yet Ruto consumes intelligence on a daily basis,” – said Senator Nyutu
At the same time, nominated senator Tabitha Mutinda defended President Ruto, stating that he was not was involved in any way. The nominated senator also condemned the use of young people to cause chaos and violence.
“Young people being used to disrupt and bring violence during a church service? That is the lowest we can go as a country. President Ruto is not involved in this chaos. To people of Kasarani and the church leadership, poleni sana,” said Senator Tabitha Mutinda
