Samidoh to contest for MP seat in 2027 elections

Renowned Kenyan Mugithi singer, Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh has hinted at stepping into political waters as a Member of Parliament (MP).

Reports indicate that Samidoh is eyeing a bid for the Ol Joro Orok parliamentary seat in Nyandarua County in the 2027 elections.

Samidoh’s growing interest for an MP seat in Nyandarua might be accredited to his involvement with the Nyandarua community for a long time.

Over the years, he has been involved in grassroots support for the county by providing food and essentials aid to residents.

Samidoh and his wife Edday Nderitu, were recently captured on video being friendly with the locals who had been struggling with invasion of hippopotamuses into their houses and farms.

This was seen as a political move to garner more endearment from the local population by showcasing his commitment to the community through charitable initiatives.

The singer’s political goals became clearer to the public when he started using the hashtag #Oljoro_orok001 in his social media posts.

During an engaging Instagram Live session with nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, who is the mother of his child, and Nairobi businessman Kelvin Shaban, Samidoh was joined by more than 2,600 viewers.

The singer then jokingly said, “If they all vote for me, I will definitely run for a seat in parliament in Ol Joro Orok.” This comment caused further discussion on social media.

Notably, the latest indicator is his meeting with former cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i, who declared interest in contesting for the presidency in the 2027 elections.

At the same time, political analysts hinted a possibility of Samidoh joining the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) party.
