Speculations arise after Pastor Kanyari gives KSh 30K to a lady who went viral after the Russian guy saga

Pastor Victor Kanyari, the outspoken founder of Salvation Healing Ministries in Nairobi, has once again found himself at the centre of public conversation after using his pulpit to offer not just prayers but what he calls “miracle support” to two women whose stories recently captured national attention.

In late January and early February 2026, Kanyari publicly embraced Marion Naipei, a woman who became the subject of widespread online ridicule after a private video of her circulated on social media.

Instead of condemnation, the preacher invited her to his church service, welcomed her before the congregation, and gifted her KSh 50,000 and a phone, with a promise to help her rebuild her life.

In several speeches he stressed that his intervention was meant to reframe the narrative away from shame and toward compassion and opportunity.

But Kanyari did not stop at cash. He pledged to go further and support Marion in starting a business of selling dera dresses, a gesture he described as turning a painful public moment into a fresh start.

Followers of his ministry and curious onlookers alike have seen this as an extension of his broader message that even those dragged through public shaming can find redemption and a way forward.

Just weeks later, Choice Gatwiri Kinoti, another woman who attained viral fame after appearing in videos with a Russian national, received similar attention from Kanyari.

During a Sunday service at his church headquarters, he called her up to the altar, introduced her to worshippers and handed her KSh 30,000, telling her “you are now my friend” and that he would help her open a business as well.

He even invited her for a lunch meeting in his office to discuss her plans, reinforcing his message that this was more than a one-off gift but the start of real support.

Both gestures have sparked widespread debate on social media and news platforms. Supporters have lauded Kanyari’s seemingly tangible help for women in vulnerable situations, framing him as a compassionate leader who puts his money where his faith is.

Detractors, however, question the motivations of a preacher who has been no stranger to controversy, and whether such high-profile acts are appropriate inside a church setting.

Pastor Kanyari’s approach highlights a fusion of faith and social intervention that has become his brand: generosity paired with dramatic gestures that draw public attention.

Whether viewed as sincere outreach or a savvy way to stay in the spotlight, his recent support for Marion and Choice has once again made him one of the most talked-about religious figures in Kenya.
