Nairobi, Kenya – October 3, 2025 – SunCulture has officially launched the ClimateSmart Battery 2 (CSB2), a next-generation solar-powered battery designed to further enhance the performance of its irrigation systems, power the company’s full range of solar water pumps, and provide reliable, off-grid electricity to rural households.
For over a decade, SunCulture has pioneered solar-powered irrigation solutions that help smallholder farmers grow more food, increase their incomes, and build resilience to climate change. The launch of the CSB2 deepens this commitment by improving the efficiency, reliability, and accessibility of SunCulture systems. With expanded energy storage and performance, the CSB2 offers even more reliable, year-round access to water, supporting farmers through both rainy and dry seasons and strengthening climate resilience in off-grid and weak-grid communities.

The CSB2 serves as the backbone of SunCulture’s irrigation systems, efficiently powering both surface and submersible pumps. Beyond agriculture, it also supports essential household needs such as lighting, television, and mobile phone charging, providing families with a single, affordable, and reliable source of clean energy.
“For the first time, we’re offering a fully integrated system with our pumps and controllers working seamlessly together,” said Henry Clarke, Chief Financial Officer of SunCulture. “With almost double the battery capacity, our customers will get more water for greater productivity, more power for better quality of life, and more options for productive use solutions. This launch reflects the best of SunCulture; relentless innovation, deep empathy for our customers, and an unwavering commitment to impact.”
The introduction of the CSB2 aligns with SunCulture’s broader mission to develop climate-smart technologies that help smallholder farmers adapt to climate change, increase agricultural productivity, and improve livelihoods. SunCulture remains focused on delivering integrated solutions that combine clean energy, water access, and productive use technologies to support inclusive rural development across Africa.
