Super Metro Limited has broken its silence after one of its buses was set on fire after it was involved in an accident along Thika Superhighway near Juja Town.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 2, Super Metro says the bus, registration number KCZ358N, was traveling downhill at Juja when the accident occured.
According to the transport company, a tuk-tuk ahead of the bus had attempted to change lanes, prompting a motorbike rider, who was overtaking at high speed, to swerve in an effort to avoid a collision.
“Unfortunately, the rider struck a pavement, fell, and was fatally injured by the bus. The rider passed away at the scene,” the statement reads in part.
The company says that the matter is currently under investigations by Juja Police Station, pledging to fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent inquiry.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time,” the company said, adding, “Super Metro remains committed to adhering to all regulatory requirements and supporting the ongoing investigation.”
Following the accident on Monday, September 1, boda boda riders set the bus on blaze, blaming the driver of knocking down the rider.
