“Tawe Movement ndiyo kusema Mulembe Nation!” – Governor Natembeya

Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has said the “Tawe Movement” he started in the Western Kenya region, is very popular among members of the Mulembe Nation.

The “Tawe Movement” was started by Natembeya and other opposition politicians from the Luhyia community to oppose President William Ruto’s Government.

Speaking during an interview with TV47’s Elizabeth Mutuku during the Ukumbi Wa Siasa forum on Tuesday January 27, 2026, Natembeya said the candidates he supported won recent by-elections in Chwele-Kabuchai and Kisa East wards.

“Tawe Movement ndiyo kusema Mulembe Nation! Uliona tulishinda chaguzi ndogo za Kisa East na nyumbani kwa Moses Wetangula,”said Natembeya.

The Trans Nzoia Governor dismissed the popularity of President Ruto in Western region, claiming that the opposition has proved that it can offer a better alternative.

He explained that as the opposition, they have an agenda for the country, contrary to what President Ruto has been saying about opposition leaders.

“Sisi (Opposition) tuna ajenda kwa Wakenya. Ajenda ya kwanza ni kumwondoa Rais William Ruto 2027,” the Governor said.

“We want our country to be respected and every Kenyan to get a share of the national cake,” he added.

He alleged that currently, there have been incidences where some citizens were sidelined due to their ethnic community or region they come from.

According to Natembeya, Kenya has the potential of becoming a great country and as the opposition, they have the agenda and they are waiting for the right time to share the agenda with Kenyans.

“If President Ruto has his agenda, he can continue with it, but for us we are waiting for the right time to share our vision for the country,” said Governor Natembeya.

He explained that Kenyans only need some basics, for instance, their children to go to school after passing exams, enough food for families, farmers to get farm inputs and ready market for their products.

At the same time, the Trans Nzoia Governor condemned the recent attack at Witima ACK Church in Othaya, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was among other leaders present for a Sunday service.

“Ni polisi pekee wenye uwezo wa kuwa na tear gas au bunduki. Sasa serikali itajichunguza vipi? Au wanatuambia kuna Wakenya wanaobeba tear gas?” Natembeya stated.

In addition, the Trans Nzoia Governor emphasized that it was wrong for leaders to take politics to churches.

“Ni jambo la kuhuzunisha kwamba siasa imepelekwa kanisani. It is primitive not to allow any Kenyan not to say his or her opinions freely,” he concluded.
