The Hub Karen marks 10 years, reaffirming its commitment to a world-class shopping experience

The Hub Karen marked its 10th anniversary on 12 July 2026, launching a month-long programme of activities that celebrate its vibrancy as one of Nairobi’s leading family entertainment and lifestyle destinations.

Throughout the month, visitors can enjoy family and community events including wellness and fitness activities, fashion and beauty experiences, and curated food and beverage offerings.

Over the past ten years, The Hub Karen has grown into one of Nairobi’s largest and most vibrant destinations.

It is home to East Africa’s first and longest mall-based zipline, as well as The Hub Park, Kenya’s largest indoor family entertainment centre, offering a wide range of games and attractions.

Jacobus Visser, Mall Manager at The Hub Karen, speaks during the mall’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

Commenting on the milestone, The Hub Karen Mall Manager Jacobus Visser said the anniversary celebrations reflect the strong relationships the mall has built with its customers and the wider community over the past decade.

“Celebrating ten years is about giving back to the community that has supported us from the beginning. Throughout July, customers can look forward to exclusive shopping and dining offers, family-friendly activities, live entertainment and a range of experiences designed to make every visit memorable. The loyalty and trust of our customers have shaped The Hub Karen into the destination it is today. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on a decade of shared memories while looking forward with confidence and excitement to the next chapter of serving our community.”

Today, The Hub Karen is home to more than 95 local and international tenants, including supermarkets, gyms, medical clinics, fashion retailers, toy stores, and family entertainment venues.

Recent additions, such as M.P. Shah Hospital and the OPPO Mobiles experience store, have further strengthened the mall’s diverse retail offering.

The mall now welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every week, reflecting both its scale and the enduring loyalty of Nairobi’s community.

Beyond retail, The Hub Karen has distinguished itself through its commitment to sustainability. It was the first open-air mall in the region to integrate green energy, with sections of the mall powered by a 450 kW solar energy installation.

The mall also continues to champion environmentally responsible practices, including water recycling and other sustainability initiatives that support its long-term environmental goals.

The Hub Karen’s tenth anniversary reflects the vision that has guided the mall since its inception: enhancing quality of life by creating spaces where communities can connect, grow and thrive. A decade later, that vision continues to shape the mall’s next chapter.

“We have always believed that a shopping centre should be more than a place to shop. It should be a place where people come together, families create memories, and communities thrive. As we enter our next decade, we will continue to invest in making The Hub Karen an even more vibrant lifestyle destination for everyone,” added Mr Visser.
