Tiwa Savage launches music foundation to give upcoming creators in Africa world class music education

Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a new initiative aimed at expanding access to high-quality music education for emerging African creators.

The foundation’s first project is the Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program, a fully funded four-day training program happening in Lagos from April 23 to 26, 2026.

This program will provide practical and industry-focused training in music production, songwriting, sound engineering, and more.

The program is open to 100 Nigerian music creators and is completely free, with no tuition required.

However, participants will need to cover their own travel and accommodation costs in Lagos. Applications opened on February 24, 2026, and will close on March 20, 2026 .

Tiwa Savage, a Berklee alumna, says the initiative is driven by the need to turn global attention on Afrobeats into long-term industry sustainability.

She believes that structured education and access are key to empowering African creatives and strengthening the continent’s music ecosystem .

The program is a significant milestone for Berklee College of Music, marking its first event in West Africa. The foundation’s long-term goals include awarding scholarships for Nigerian students to study at Berklee in Boston and establishing a permanent music school in Nigeria.

The application process for the Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program is currently open until March 20, 2026.

To apply, you’ll need to submit an online application form and a 2-3 minute video showcasing your performance skills and musicianship, recorded within the last six months.

The program is designed to meet participants at their current skill level and expand their creative range. You’ll engage in lectures, workshops, and ensembles tailored to elevate your professional musicianship skills.

The program is tuition-free, but you’ll need to cover your own travel, accommodation, and living expenses in Lagos. It’s open to musicians, producers, songwriters, and other creatives across Africa, and admission is highly selective.
