President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 4 appointed former nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura as government spokesperson.

Mwaura will be deputised by TV47 Swahili presenter Mwanaisha Chidzuga and Gabriel Muthuma.

In a gazette notice from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, the appointments take effect immediately.

Prior to his appointment, Mwaura had been nominated as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

However, a protracted court battle regarding the legality of the CAS positions saw the positions suspended.

The position of governmnent spoksperson had been left vacant after Colonel (Retired) Cyrus Oguna resigned in October 2022, to take up the position of Chief of Staff for Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Oguna had served in the position from May 2019, after he was appointed by then-President Uhuru Kenyatta.
