Police on Monday, October 13, intecepted a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) that was found ferrying banned substances.
The officers on routine check flagged the vehicle, registration number KCS 884N, travelling from Nairobi to Maua. Upon conducting a thorough search, the officers discovered approximately 25 kilograms of a substance suspected to be the narcotic drug cannabis sativa.
The drugs had been concealed in a black suitcase, a black backpack, and a white carrier bag. The driver claimed the luggage belonged to two of his passengers.

The suspects were arrested and taken to Meru Police Station, where they are awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
“National Police Service commends the swift and coordinated efforts of the officers involved in the operation,” the National Police Service (NPS) says. “The Service reiterates its commitment to the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and other illicit activities that threaten the safety and well-being of communities.”
