Just days before Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour hit Atlanta, United States, a theft incident disrupted her crew’s preparations. Thieves reportedly broke into a rental SUV used by her choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue, making away with highly sensitive materials.
The break-in occurred around 8 p.m. on July 8 at the Krog Street Market parking deck. The suspects smashed the black Jeep Wagoneer’s trunk window and gained access.
ABC News — citing police documents — reports that the suspect(s) stole two suitcases containing hard drives filled with unreleased, watermarked Beyoncé’s music, as well as detailed performance plans, including past and future setlists and exclusive show footage.
In addition to the hard drives, personal items such as laptops, designer outfits, AirPods Max, and sunglasses were also stolen, according to Atlanta police.
The stolen music has raised serious concern due to its potential impact on upcoming shows.
Beyoncé’s producer says despite the theft, the files were secured with unique watermarks designed to trace any leaks, underscoring how seriously the team treats the protection of her creative content.
After the theft, the team used tracking features like Apple’s “Find My” app to follow the movements of the stolen devices, leading police to a suspicious vehicle, described as a silver Toyota or Hyundai Elantra, and eventually to a suspect.
An arrest warrant has been issued, though it’s unclear if any suspects have been identified. However, detectives dusted the vehicle for fingerprints at the scene.
