Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, have arrested a University of Nairobi (UoN) student for allegedly stabbing his roommate to death following an argument over bathroom use and cleanliness at their campus hostel.

The victim, identified as Brian Wambui, a third-year student, was reportedly stabbed during a heated altercation on Mondaym, September 1 evening.

Witnesses say the dispute began over who was responsible for flushing and cleaning the shared toilet in their hostel, escalating quickly into a physical confrontation.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect, Justus Otieno, allegedly left the scene during the scuffle, returned moments later with a sharp object, and stabbed Wambui.

Friends who were present during the incident are said to have attempted to de-escalate the fight before the situation turned deadly.

Medical personnel suspect the cause of death was due to serious injuries sustained from stabbing.
