Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called for respect among elected leaders to avoid unnecessary conflicts.
Waiguru said she will not allow other politicians to “step on her” as they seek political mileage saying her silence should not be misconstrued.
The Governor said that she is still on the drawing board and together with other like-minded leaders are consulting and “planning for a political future for the people of region.”
“I want to ask people of Kirinyaga to calm down, Kirinyaga must be on the national cake sharing table. There is no way we can get all the development we want without being where the cake is being shared,” she said.

She asked leaders to focus on delivering their promises to the people instead of engaging in unnecessary fights with other leaders.
“Stop going round lying to the people, our people are well informed and cannot be deceived and cannot be easily swayed to vote for people blindly. During the last election, we saw many people going round asking for votes, but they got shocked by the turn of event, some were admitted in hospital,” she added.
Waiguru said she will not be dragged into politicking at the expense of service delivery to the people and asked voters to scrutinize track record of those going round seeking to get support for 2027.
She warned that those who think that she will be “irrelevant in the 2027 political realignment and think they can get to the people through the back door, will be in for a shock.”
“We are still working for the people and my development record stands out for everyone to see. There are people who think they can wish me away because my term as governor is ending. I want to tell them Kirinyaga has its own leaders and we will still be there,” the Governor said.
