Wiper Patriotic Front Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has arrived in Washington DC, United States.
Kalonzo, accompanied by his close confidants, touched down at the Dulles International Airport on Wednesday, February 4 evening. He was received by Kenyans living in the U.S.
According to the former vice president, he is in the U.S to attend the 74th National Prayer Breakfast.
With the visit to U.S coming shortly after he was appointed as the new leader of Azimio Coalition Party, Kalonzo will also be doing engagements with Kenyan community in diaspora. This is in a bid to cement his position as the outright opposition’s presidential candidate in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
“Touchdown Washington DC!Grateful to Albina, Shanice, and Enrique for the warm welcome at Dulles International Airport. Looking forward to the 74th National Prayer Breakfast and fruitful engagements with our diaspora community and beyond,” Kalonzo said in a statement shortly after arriving in the U.S.
Among those accompanying Kalonzo is Deputy Minority Leader of the National Assembly and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo.
TV47 has learnt that the United Opposition Alliance has settled on Kalonzo as its flagbearer in the next year’s election. The decision was reached during a high-level meeting chaired by Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and held in Mombasa last month.
The meeting also agreed that PLP Party Leader Martha Karua will be Kalonzo’s runningmate.
