Willis Raburu joins Linda Mwananchi Movement, targets Kisumu senetorial seat

Siaya Governor James Orengo has announced that media personality Willis Raburu has joined the Linda Mwananchi Movement and will be contesting for the Kisumu Senatorial seat in the coming 2027 general-elections.

Orengo, who shared the news on his social media, said he held a one-on-one meeting with Raburu and expressed excitement at having him on board.

He described Raburu as someone who brings youthful energy, corporate MC expertise, and a creative media background to the movement.

“Today, I had an engaging tete a tete with Willis Raburu. He’s officially bringing his signature youthful energy, corporate MC expertise, and creative media edge to the Linda Mwananchi Movement,” Orengo said.

Orengo also revealed that Raburu will be vying for the Kisumu County Senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

“Willis is running for the Kisumu Senatorial seat, and we are thrilled he’s chosen to board our bus, a movement fueled by the aspirations of the youth and a drive for a better Kenya,” Orengo wrote.

Raburu’s move into politics comes nearly two years after his exit from Cape Media’s TV47 in April 2024.

He had joined TV47 in August 2023 and during his time at the Cape Media station, Raburu hosted the Wabebe Experience show every Friday at 10 p.m.

The show featured artists, including singers, spoken word masters, and dancers who came on board to showcase their respective works.

The Linda Mwananchi movement is a faction of ODM youthful politicians who are opposed to the leadership of Oburu Oginga.

Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, Richard Onyonka, Godfrey Osotsi, Anthony Kibagendi, Caleb Amisi, Clive Gisairo, Obadiah Barongo, and Caroli Omondi are among the movement’s members.

The wing opposes the ODM party supporting President Ruto’s 2027 re-election.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement, Mashemeji Derby Edition, is set to hold a rally in Vihiga on Saturday 25th April and Kisumu on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
